Updated June 9, 2007

About Our Family Research

This site is dedicated to the memory of my father Petro Finczak and mother Anastacia (Stefura) Finczak, Mike and Maria (Stefura) Puzyk, Stella and Dmetro Chruszcz, Ivan and Anna Chruszcz, Petro and Anne (Stefura) Diak and our ancestors whose bravery, perseverance, strong instinct for survival and dedication to the family created what we are today.

Description: This tree contains families which originated in the Lemko (Sanok) district which is located today in southeast Poland. At various times they were under the Austrian, Ukrainian, Slovakian and Hungarian influence. More specifically these families originated predominately from the Villages of Karlykiv, Vola Petrova, Plonna and surrounding towns. Some of the data presented may contain inaccuracies as it is based on memories of my mother Anastacia Finczak and my interpretation of it. Much of this type of family history was not recorded but was passed on through word of mouth. I would therefore appreciate any information which can either be added to this data or corrected. Predominate names in this family are: Finczak, Fenczak, Stefura, Chruszcz,Kusznir, Gulycz, Ryncio,Pituch, Hoysan, Diak, Puzyk, Dudas, Soltys, Kurinko,Haidais, Nygly, Meromier, Semenkiv. Many members of the family emigrated to Pennsylvania, New York and Canada in the early 1900's and the post war years.
