About Our Family Research
Researching all descendants of John Terrell Finch born 1832 in Georgia. Including the following associated families: Carlton, Farmer, Durham, Holland, Noland, Verner. Most of these family members lived in Paulding County and Polk County, Georgia. These pioneers moved into the area after the Cherokee Indians left for Oklahoma. Some were in search of Gold, and others just looking for land in a beautiful area of rolling hills and creeks. Raccoon Creek with its "High Shoals" waterfall is located near High Shoals Baptist Church on the old Marietta - Van Wert Road. The present Church was chartered by the Finch family and others in the area in 1913. Many family members are buried in the old and new cemetery at the church.
