My mother, Jean Marguerite BEHM, is the daughter of John Henry BEHM, born in Tiffin, Seneca County, Ohio, and Emma Josephine KIRCHNER, born in Fremont, Sandusky County, Ohio. They raised their nine children in Cleveland, Ohio.
John BEHM's father, Albert BEHM / BOEHM, was a brickmaker in Tiffin. His wife, Maria Catherine LUDWIG, was the daughter of Karl LUDWIG and Mary Anna SCHWAB. Karl, son of Jacob LUDWIG and Anna Maria MAIS, died in Germany, and his widow, Mary Anna, brought her five children to America. The family had lived in the towns of Buchel, Alflen and Gevenich in the Rheinland province of Germany. Mary Anna SCHWAB's father was Wilhelm Jacob SCHWAB, son of Jacob Christopher SCHWAB and Anna Maria SCHMITZ, daughter of Jacob and Maria Gertrude SCHMITZ. Mary Anna's mother was Anna BRAUNS, daughter of Joanny BRAUNS and Anna Maria KEFSELER. Related families were WEISBECKER, HOHENBRINK, BREITENBACH, EYERMAN, STEIS, BRUCKER, KINSTLER, GROSS, WOLFERT, GERHARDS, LAUX, BROST, MESS and THOME.
Emma KIRCHNER's father, John Bernard KIRCHNER, was a blacksmith in both Seneca and Sandusky Counties, Ohio. Emma's mother was Barbara FLORIAN, daughter of Joseph FLORIAN and Anne Barbara SCHLANDAR of Mertzwiller, Alsace, France. Joseph was the son of Franciscus Joseph FLORIAN and Anne Marie MONNO, grandson of Johan George Wolfgang FLORIAN and Juliene KRAFT. Johan was the son of Wolfgang FLORIAN and Margaretha VIX, and Juliene was the daughter of Joseph KRAFT and Catherine BOEHR. Related families were STRENTZ, JUNG, LEHMAN, HOMAN, LOSCHERT, WELTLE, MEHLING, KISER, BLOOM, MUTCHLER, STULLER and DURRENBERGER.
My father, Thomas Michael CARROLL, was the son of Michael Francis CARROLL, born in Drumbaun, Curry East, County Sligo, Ireland, and Katherine Agnes GIBBONS, born in the Derryveeny, Tourmakeady area of County Mayo, Ireland.
Michael CARROLL was the son of John CARROLL and Catherine MOFFETT. John's first wife was Ann McGUIRE. Michael lived in Bishop Auckland, Durham, England, as a young man, then immigrated to Philadelphia before settling in Cleveland, Ohio. Related families were Courfield, Gilligan and Bonner.
Katherine GIBBONS was the daughter of Patrick GIBBONS and Mary LALLY. Patrick was the son of Luke GIBBONS and Katherine, whose maiden name was also GIBBONS. Mary LALLY was the daughter of Thomas LALLY and his wife, Sarah, granddaughter of Edward LALLY, and great-granddaughter of Matthew LALLY. Related families were STAUNTON, McGING, THORNTON, CUSACK and RONAN.
Research has also been done on the RIVARD and McGUIRE families, ancestors of Jay Timothy McGUIRE.
