Moore, Wick, Luif, Thompson, Suggs, in IL & the South Updated May 21, 2006
About Our Family Research
Moore, Thompson, Suggs, Hankins, Bowlin, Smith go way back to the early 1800's in Marion Co., Alabama and in Monroe and Itawamba Counties in Mississippi. And maybe the Carolinas. The name Green and Monroe were used as middle names. Wick immigrated from Prussia to Chicago, IL. around the turn of the century and adding the name Waldman from Helensville, WI. Luif and Majerhoffer are German speaking from Austria-Hungary and had lived awhile in Croatia arriving around the turn of the century through Ellis Island and settled in Chicago, IL. At that time Austria-Hungary ruled over a large area which also was known as Styria and Slovenia. Slatina, Austria is one place that they lived. Some cousins also settled in the Chicago area named Anton & Terese Luif. My information comes from family and from research.
