The Blakes ,Whetrens - New Forest. Marshalls from Hitchin

Updated March 5, 2006

About Our Family Research

The Blakes and Whetrens of the New Forest come from the parishes of Eling and Minstead. The parish registers have been searched, as well as the censuses 1841 to 1901. Isaac Blake left Eling to work on the Great Western Railway and settled in Swindon, Wiltshire. He is my great grandfather.
The Marshalls come from Hitchin, Hertfordshire and were straw hat mqanufacturers. My great grandfather, Willoughby Marshall jopined the army and went to India. He stayed there and my mother, Letitia Grace Marshall was born there.
I have explored as many lines as possible, so there are many other quite large branches in this tree: such as those of the WOOLFORD, HINDER, WALDOCK, OSBORNE, BOWER families to name a few.
