Bryants/Fletchers of Arkansas Updated January 1, 2002
About Our Family Research
Inspired by my late aunt Juanita, who introduced me to the world of genealogy, and an interest in who we are and where we came from- I have begun to gather all information I can from still living relatives and flesh out a family tree. The Fletcher side was documented by Juanita Fletcher as far back as possible, and I am trying to go back further. Juanita was of short stature, high cheekbones, darker skin than her brothers, and had coal black eyes and hair. She insisted there was more than one Indian tribe in our ancestry, and remembered one female relative who lived on a reservation. I was unable to document this before she passed- but am searching for it now. On the Bryant side I am searching for anything on the life of my grandfather, Terry Buck Bryant, whom I never met, and his people before him. I have found names that match his parent's names on the Guion Miller Eastern Cherokee rolls-in Georgia before 1907, and many other Bryants in the Arkansas and Oklahoma area during and after forced relocation. Any and all information or links would be greatly appreciated!
