Johnson's Dynasty - Descendants of Edward & Rebecca Johnson

Updated June 3, 2007

About Our Family Research

John Edward and Rebecca Johnson were farmers in Orangeburg and Calhoun counties, South Carolina during the years of 1870-1929. John was always called Edward. Rebecca's maiden name remains unknown. During the early post-civil war years they married and settled in Amelia Township close to St. Matthews, SC. By 1920 they were living in Lyons Township on land owned by their son, Noah. Twelve children are known to have been born to John Edward and Rebecca. It is believed that 10 of the children survived to adulthood.By name they were Franklin, George W., Edward, Jr., Noah, Solomon, Richard, Sophie, Lillie Belle, Lizzie and Georgia Ann.
Sometime after 1910 several of the children of Edward and Rebecca began to migrate to other parts of the south; and to various states throughout the country. Today 400 living descendants have been identified. We are located in the states of California, Florida, Maryland, Massachusettes, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia and Washington, D.C.
Though we are spread out across the country we are committed to strenthening family ties. Towards this end we have established both a family association and a family newsletter called Johnson's Dynasty, Inc. We also get together yearly for family reunions and other family related activities.
At the center of our research is the identification and location of possible descendants of Solomon Johnson, Richard Johnson and Sophie Johnson Williams; and the parentage of John Edward and Rebecca. We are united in our effort to learn, share, record and preserve the history of our family.
