I have been researching our family for about 8 years now. I have done a lot of it over the internet as I live in Las Vegas, Nevada & can't just pop in to the local archives! I have also used "snail mail" & the telephone. Also, the people I have met on the net have been incredibly helpful. Complete strangers who have been willing to "go the extra mile" not only in England but other countries as well where my reserach has led me.
My Lawrence cousins have also been very helpful & I am most grateful for that help but I doubt I have finished picking their brains! I seem to have encountered a plethora of Eppy descendants including one today (23 Jan, 2007) who is our third cousin & descended from John Eppy & Sarah Willis. She lives in Steeple Bumpstead so I am looking forward to lots of information from her. Not the least of which is verifying that the first Eppy I have found, (John) born about 1764 in SB, is in fact our ancestor. His wife was named Ann & I believe they were married on 27 August, 1782 in SB.
I have also finally been in touch with a couple of relatives of my Scots mother which has been exciting as it has been very hard researching her roots as she had virtually no contact with her family after the start of WW 2. She left Scotland as a teen & never went home again. She knew very little about her family. I have found out so much & feel sad that I cannot share it with her. She had an older brother; a younger brother & sister whom she never mentioned. Her mum died when my mum was six & she was raised by an aunt sho obviouly did nothing to keep mums memories of her siblings alive.
I hope as you look at my tree, you will find cause to comment or make recommendations or whatever. I really wanted a "Family Reunion" to get to see all of you again & meet some of our newly found relatives but it doesn't seem likely to happen in the forseeable future, anyway.
I have tried to be as factual as I can with my records & to note the sources where I got my information. I am sure there are lots of blank areas but as I have the time, I will improve on it. Meantime, I hope you enjoy my "labour of love" for that is truly what this is & it is still on-going.
As with any reserach, there are always brick walls & perhaps putting this "Family Tree" on the net will enable others who are researching the same lines, to contact me. So, for now, onward & upward. Just rememebr: "Old Genealogists never die, they just lose their census"! (groan)
