I have been researching the Fackler/Families for over 31 years, and have been using FTM from its earliest versions. I started my research by using "snail mail", the telephone, hours of research in libraries, the National Archives and the LDS Family History Center in Salt Lake City.
The Internet was still a dream, and computer technology was in its infancy, but since I worked in an R and D world, I witnessed technology grow from inside the cutting edge. I feel fortunate to still be here at 85, not only to marvel at the technolgical explosion, but also on a personal level to see the arrival of great-grandchildren. I grew up in the Great Depression. I became a Cadet in the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1942, and flew 50 missions out of Italy as a B-24 navigator in 1944, and then served in the newly-formed U.S. Air Force as an Active Flying Reservist for 23 years. As a genealogy researcher, I firmly believe that the genealogical tool of the future is DNA. With the use of DNA, family group relationships can finally be scientifically established. -- Harry Fockler, February 2009
