About Our Family Research

The Folzenlogen family had its origins in Weyersheim, Bas Rhin, Alsace, France. From there the family moved to Retschwiller, then to Surbourg. Joseph Folzenlogel came to the US in 1849 and eventually settled near Dover, IN, where here married Magdalena Sibler who came from the town of Durrenbach not far from Surbourg. The Thinnes family was from the Saarland area of Germany near the border with France and Luxembourg. The Metzler and Sehi families came from Palatinate town of Bann. The Haverland family came from Laxten near Lingen in the Kingdom of Hannover. The Thomas or Thomes family came from Bockhorst, also in Hannover. The Mescher family came from Neuenkirchen by Vörden in the Duchy of Oldenburg. The Blömers came from Holdorf, but ultimately from Dinklage.
