Robert And Alicia Were Grandparents Of John, Who Was The First Cogswell To Come To America (1635).
1. ROBERT1 COGSWELL was born 1510 in Westbury, Leigh, Wilts, England, and died WFT Est. 1573-1603. He married ALICE ADLAM 1541, daughter of JOHN ADLAM and MARJORIE ______. She was born 1518, and died August 01, 1603 in Dilton, Wiltshire, England.
He was a manufacturer of wollen cloth. "Tax records of 1545 show them [the
five brothers] quite well established, especially Robert, who was the grandfather of John
Cogswell, the immigrant to America in 1635."
Little Is Known About Robert, But According To His Will He Was In The Business Of Manufacturing Woolen Cloths.
