The Fray families in England and abroad from 1400AD.

About Our Family Research

I have traced my own line back to a John Fray living at Tisbury (Wiltshire)in 1479. I am interested in trying to add any other Frays to that Family Tree.

I am also collecting data about a Sir John Fray who was chief baron of the Exchequer in 1436, and I now have about 600 references. Unfortunately Sir John had daughters and no sons! However, it is possible that there may have been an illegitimate line from the Staffords or Arundells. After Sir John, died his wife married John (Lord) Wenlock, who is recorded as being killed at the Battle of Tewkesbury in 1471. I have gathered information which suggests that Lord Wenlock may actually have survived (a Medieval fraud!). I am therefore interested in communicating with anyone who has traced the Wenlock family back through a few centuries.

I hope to write booklets about Sir John Fray and John Lord Wenlock.
