Includes NotesNotes for Elizabeth Irvin Barber:
My Mother (written by Kathryn R. Hunter)

Elizabeth Barber Hunter (she dropped her given middle name years ago) born in Curvensville, Pa., on 04/13/1903 in parsonage, first minister's baby born there. She passed away 12/21/1964 about 2 P.M. while holding my hand. She grew up in several small towns in Pennsylvania as her father was a Presbyterian minister, last church Bellwood, Pennsylvania, where he passed away when "mom" was just 20. She was next to the youngest of seven children. So, grandpa Barber wasn't real young when he suddenly died of a heart attack.

My mother was a mission school teacher in New Mexico with Aunt Ruth and in the Carolina's (taught a child or children of the Cannon towel family). She also worked in a music store in Tyrone, Pennsylvania where she waited on Fred Waring(famous musician and his family). She, Aunt Adeline and Grandma Barber moved to Tyrone after grandpa died and living in Bellwood awhile next to Aunty K's husband, Uncle Arthur and his first family before he met Aunty K.

Mom was an invalid (23 1/2 yrs) we knew she had M.S. probably had it 5 years longer, about 2 1/2 years before John was born. She had a rough time when Cal was born and again when John was born, the only one of us born in a hospital in Oil City, Pennsylvania. Cal was born in Grandma Hunter's house, Bob and I in the "Nursing" home(now turned into regular residence again), all in Bellwood with same doctor.

Anyway with all this she was the best mother to me anyone could ever have. As close to an angel I ever expect to see on this earth.
