HARRY W. FERGUSON of NEW BRUNSWICK - RESEARCH

Updated May 12, 2003

About Our Family Research

Harry W. Ferguson son of Major William M. Ferguson and Mary Vivien Doherty. Grandparents Paternal- Wiliam Frederick Turner Ferguson & Clara Helena Wheelhouse - grandparents Maternal - Isaac Wallace Doherty & Martha Anderson. Most of the research has been done on the Doherty side and I am working on my Ferguson ancestors. My great gradparents were Richard Ferguson and Elizabeth White and My Great Great Great Parents were Thomas Fergusn and Margaret Dwyer. I know that Thomas Ferguson served in the American Revolution in the Royal Artillery and his brother William served in a British Regiment of Foot. Afer the war they had to leave Pennsylvania and they settled in Tracadie, New Brunswick where they both had large families. Thomas Ferguson later moved to Restigouche County, New Brunswick. Family tradition says Thomas or his father came from Northern Ireland. One of Thomas sons Michael Ferguson and wife Margaret Christopher left New Brunswick and settled in Stillwater, Minnesota where they raised a family. The names Thomas and William are very common throughout my research. I believe one son of Michael and Margaret Ferguson - Hugh - also lived in Stillwater, Minn. or that area.
