The Fries(s) family came from Germany in 1758 and settled in the York, PA area. Sometime later my branch moved south to Westminister, MD and then later moved westward to Aurora/Rowlesburg, WV (then VA)in the early 1800's. My mothers maiden name was Livengood (originally from Germany); her mother was a Feather (originally from Germany and whose name was Vatter but misreported when they came into the US thru Ellis Island). My father's mother was a Friend; they were from Sweden.
My wife was a Gormley from Maine. It appears that the person who came from Ireland settled in northern Maine (perhaps part of Massachussets at the time along the St. Johns river) and who was listed as Patrick Gorman in census records of 1840. Her father's mother was Hannah Ballard from Four Falls, New Brunswick, Canada. Her mother's father was Joel Tilley who was also born in New Bruswick, Canada.
