I am just beginning my research. I know that my great grandfather was William Richard Furr (a/k/a "Pappy Dick"). As a small child, he came to Benton County (West TN) from North Carolina with his father, Levi or Leviticus Furr and mother Nancy Hennant (sp?) Furr. Does anyone know who THIS Levi Furr was descended from? His name I believe may have actually been Leviticus. His wife, Nancy, died young & Levi remarried. I believe that Levi moved on West, maybe to a more western county in West Tennessee, remarried and had other children. Some of his children were in the next county over, Carroll County, Tennessee in the last half of the 1800's. Pappy Dick (Wm. Richard Furr) who remained in Holladay, Benton County, Tennessee never mentioned his half-siblings much, I think they were not very close and as a result very little if any, is known about his father, Levi or his half-siblings. William Richard Furr's descendants for the most part remain in and around the Camden, (Benton County) Tennessee area which is near the Tennessee river about mid-way between Memphis and Nashville. There are only a handful of Furrs in Benton County, Tennessee with those all being direct descendants of Wm. Richard Furr. The Furrs were primarily farmers until recent years.
