About Our Family Research

This is my genealogy. My name is Marc-Aurèle Gagnon, my father is named Jean-Robert. He and his 14 brothers and sisters were born (in the 40's and 50's) in and around the town of Rouyn, in the region of Abitibi, Québec. The whole family moved early on to Matagami, further up north. Today, the family is scattered across the province, but I hope this home page will be a way for us to keep in touch, by knowing our common roots.

Abitibi being a relatively young region, my grand-parents did not originate from that part of the province. My grand-father, Jean-Joseph Gagnon, was born in Chicoutimi (Saguenay region) in 1918 and my grand-mother, Marie-Paule Guimont, was born in Ste-Anne-de-la-Pocatière in 1920, near Cap-St-Ignace and l'Islet, about one hour east of Québec City on the south shore of the St-Lawrence River.

So this is their genealogy. I hope that by this page I will be able to help others find their roots as much as I will help my close relatives.

a word of caution...please be patient because I have accumulated a lot of info and I have very little time to build this page, so the info will comme in on a regular basis, but just a little at a time. Thank you for your comprehension. Marc Gagnon

Bonjour!

bonne chasse!!! Marc
