My family search started with the help of the Church of Jesus Christ and Latter Day Saints. On microfilm I discovered my fathers' family and also my great grandparents.
My family (the Gallo's), originated in Benevento, Italy and then migrated to Foggia. In the Foggia microfilm, I found my grandparents marriage records and then my great grandparents records also. My grandfather, Salvatore Gallo was married to Elisabetta Balistrieri and my great grandfather, Giuseppe Gallo was married to Nunzia Conte. I discovered four of my father's brothers and one of his sisters.
My mother, Rosa Mancano's family has been difficult to get any information. Her father, Pasquale Mancano,was born in Padova and I cannot locate any records. His wife Maria Antonia Picheo's records cannot be located. Fortunately, I was able to contact my mother's great niece from an address that I discovered in my mother's belongings, when she wrote to her brother, Luigi Mancano in Foggia. Annamaria Lucci, Luigi's niece answered my letter and we have been in email contact.My mother had two brothers, Luigi and Stefano Mancano. Through my cousin I had a superb line of information to their lives and their children. We send each other video tapes of all major events such as christenings and marriages and renewal of vows. The format for videos in Italy is different than the USA. The video has to be modified professionally at a small fee.
