I have only recently started research into the Gallinger family, who were my late husband's roots. I recently came into possession of a photo of my husband's step-brother who was killed in Europe in September 1918. With the photo an obituary notice identified the siblings of this soldier. It also contained the names of my father-in-laws siblings, who also served in the First World War (1914 - 1918). I have made contact with a William Gallinger living in Long Sault, Ont. and am anxiously awaiting a reply. My father-in-law's name was William John Gallinger, born on July 17, 1871 in Moulinette, Ont., his brothers are identified as George Nelson, Charles Edward,Frank and Clarence. The soldier who died in Europe was Ralph and his siblings were William, Edward and Mamie and step-siblings were Gordon, still living in Ottawa, Ont. at 87 yrs. of age, Arnold (deceased 1944), Violet (deceased) and Muriel living in Edmonton, Alberta and she is 82 yrs. old. My reason for this search is to be able to pass this information to my 7 children.
