I am just beginning to research the history of the Haines family(s) in Australia and have very limited information, mainly due to the fact that my father (Bradley Haines) died in an accident in 1968, thereafter we had very little, and eventually no contact with the Haines side of my family. I do have a family Bible which was given to me by my mother and details some family history - which may be helpful to others trying to research as well!
Edmond Hugh Haines married Mary Ethel Bennett (dec. 21 Nov 1929) on 28 July 1894 in Richmond, Victoria. Their children are as follows: Robert Hugh Haines born 2 July 1895 (pre-deceased mother). Ruth Haines (Mrs. Wright) born 12 April 1898 at Moore Park, Sydney. Sidney Arthur Tennyson Haines born 25 September 1900, also Sydney. Muriel Thelma Haines (Mrs. Martin) born 10 April 1904, Burnley, Melbourne. Edmond Albert Haines born 3 September 1906, Burnley also. Gordon Stanley Haines (my Grandfather) born 9 January 1914, also at Burnley.
Gordon Stanley Haines married Hilda (hist. unknown). Children Bradley Edmond Haines (dec. 8/8/68) and Kaye Haines (Mrs. Hadaway).
Bradley Haines married Lauris J. Rowland. Children are Mark Gordon Haines born 17 September, 1960, Kerrie Lee Haines, born 10 January 1962 and Michelle Ann Haines born 5 August 1965 (me!).
Mark Gordon Haines married Katrina Davis on 19 May 1989. Children are Georgia Rae Haines and Callum James Haines.
In our branch of the family tree, Callum James will be the last to carry on the family name - he is presently 8 years old.
