"Gastons in Alabama"

Updated September 10, 2001

About Our Family Research

My Great/Great Grandfather was Matthew A Gaston,(B. 01/08/1813 D. 10/21/1877 buried in Union Baptist cemetary 1/2 mile from where I live.) a riverboat captain woking out of Mobile, AL. His father was a John Gaston Of Wilcox County, AL. I'm searching for documentation of this. He was said to be the first legislator to represent Monroe and Wilcox counties in Alabama. Think he was born 04/10/1779 died 10/21/1885. Buried in Gastonburg, AL, a small community in southwest AL.
