The Gaul Family of Fredericksburg, Va

Updated August 24, 2008

About Our Family Research

We are originally from Brooklyn New York, via New Jersey, Alexandria, VA and now Fredericksburg. We have family scattered from Brooklyn to Northern New Jersey, New York, Long Island, Massachusesetts, and Florida (and maybe CT). I have been told that we are related many generations ago to the Gauls who exist in the Plains (Iowa, Kansas, etc), however, I have not taken that step. My grandfather was one of eleven children who was listed as of German descent in an 1890 census of New York City. We believe this was because Alsace-Lorraine (where he stated his family was from) was under German control at the time. My grandfather spoke English and French and fought for America in WWI. I am interested in finding any of his siblings or their offspring and also any more stories of our family.
