The John Moreton Tompsons of New Westminster, BC, Canada Updated June 6, 2007
About Our Family Research
My name is June Gauntley. I am John Tompson's second daughter. My older sister, Ellen Edwards, has, for the past 10 years, done personal research into our family, and since I retired in 2006 I have done in-depth research as well. Ellen travelled to England and Wales and has personally discovered many exciting details of the Tompson ancestors. Little Moreton Hall is the family home of the William Moretons,(through whom the line of daughters married a Tompson) from the 1400-1500's. It is situated in Cheshire, England, and is now in the National Register of Historic Places in the UK. We have an interesting and rich heritage of "gentlemen", vicars, artists, and musicians. One of our William Moreton's was the Chief Recorder of London, and another was the Bishop of Kildare and Meath. Most of the Tompson men were Vicars of the Church of England. It is very exciting to explore and discover more stories every day.
