The Brooks Family of Converse and Niobrara Counties Wyoming

The Brooks family of Converse and Niobrara Counties Wyoming were pioneers to Lusk, Wyoming (formerly known as Silver Cliff, Wyoming). Orin Dean and William Luther Brooks came to Wyoming in 1884 and homesteaded the land. Orin Dean and his wife, Anne Maria-Hall-Brooks), opened the first hotel and eating establishment called the "Brooks House" in October 1886.

Orin and Ann Maria had eight children all of whom were raised in the Lusk area. They were: Cora Ella (married William F. Louger, Jr. also of Lusk); Ward Orin, Hattie Theresa, Arthur Luther, Cathie Irene, Walter Eugene, William H., and Eunice Marie. Ann Maria died in 1896 and is buried in the Lusk Cemetery.

William Luther and his wife, Sarah Jane Noble (from England)had three sons who grew up in Wyoming on a ranch northwest of Manville. They were Frank E., George Ernest and William Luther.
