Pentons of Hampshire-John W. Goater

Updated June 3, 2002

About Our Family Research

I'm researching the Penton family mainly located in the Littleton, Hampshire, England area.

My father Harold Penton Goater was orphaned at a very early age and as far as I was concerned we had few relatives. Since my interest in family research has grown in fact I discovered that my father had a huge family unknown to him including a half brother. At this time there are now 972 entries in my family data base. The following details may be of mutual interest and if so please contact me initially at my e-mail address-

Isaac Penton 1834-1911 m Rosie Oliver 1846-1914, they had fifteen children all born within the Littleton area, a daughter named Lily was my fathers mother. Isaacs father was:-

James Penton 1791-1851 m Maria Hurn 1800-1880, they had eleven children. James father was:-

Henry Penton 1759-1824 m Ann Winchworth 1762-1833, they had eight children. Henry's father was:-

James Penton died in 1789 m Sarah, to date I have traced ten children.

I'm aware some Pentons moved abroad, but the picture is as yet unclear. Should you be investigating a similar branch of this tree, please get in touch so that we can swap information and advance further our murual interest.

I'm also investigating Goaters originating from Sparsholt, Winchester, Hampshire, England and Judds of Southern England.
