The Giammanco's came from Terrasini, Palermo, Sicily about 1903 and others followed. I have searched the Ellis Island Passenger Records and found several family members listed. I was able to trace them through St. Louis, MO and on to California. As with all families they were just concerned with making a living for there own families. A family fued caused the Carlo Giamanco's to came to California and drop one of the "m's" from the last name.

Because of the Italian tradition of naming the first born after the paternal grandfather their are alot of the same named individuals with gets confusing when tryig to keep track of who is who. Even with computers if you happen to be working on one member with a common name and attach the wrong wife or child then it can get very mixed up. So be patient and document, document everything.
