I have been researching my maternal grandmother's family for quite some time now. My great grandfather was William Robret McCulley born 29 August, 1861 in Dayton, Rhea County, Tennessee. He married Mary Adeline Ferguson who was born January 19, 1865 in Tennessee. William's father was Peter McCollough or spelled McCalaugh. Peter McCollough married Betty Murffy.
Mary Adeline Ferguson's parents were Alex Ferguson and wife Sara Jane. At this point in my search, I do not know Sara Jane's maiden name.
So far, what I have been able to glean from family members is that when William Robert's family headed west, they decided to settle in Texas. They lived in the north eastern part of the state near the Oklahoma border and were farmers.
William and Mary Adeline had 8 children, 6 girls and 2 boys. My grandmother, Willie "Elsa" Elsie McCulley was born in Grapevine, TX, 21 August 1904 or 1905.
