Researching the Walker family.
John Henry Walker was born in Spalding, Licolnshire, England about 1849 and attended the Blue Coat School. His trade was as a Bootmaker. He came to New Zealand in about 1860. He married Mary Irene Alice Oakford in 1874 in Wellington, New Zealand. He was involved in the Taranaki War from 1860 - 1870 as a Native Interpreter. He lived in the Hutt Valley, Otaki, Waikanae, Waitara areas. He was also a farmer and a Horsebreaker.
He had 9 children.
