My Great-grandmother was Martha Ann Emerson, daughter of William and Elizabeth Hall Emerson. That's as far as I can get with the Emerson's. She married John Monroe Wiles and had two sons, John Hall and William Ambrose. John Monroe left Wilkes County NC in the late 1890's, went to Ashe County NC, married another woman, and raised a large family there. William Emerson lived in Wilkes County NC and his occupation is listed as millright. Apparently he was born ca. 1816 and Elizabeth was born about 1828. Before coming to Wilkes County the Emerson's were in Rowan County NC. I'm very much interested in pursuing the Emerson's. I already have the Wiles history. Also, I have no info at all on my Great-grandmother Elizabeth Hall.
