The following last names appear in my family tree: Gilbert, Hart, Rush/Russhe, Lucas, Miles, Hughes, Evans, Hounschell, Sasser, Weaver, Charlesworth, Tieman, Naurth, Remig.
My great-great grandfather, John Davis Hart of Illinois, fought for the Union in the Civil War(54th Inf., Co. A). HIS great-grandfather, John Hart, was a member of the first Assembly called by William Penn and a respected minister. John Davis Hart's great-great grandfather, Capt. John Rush, was a commander of a cavalry troop in Oliver Cromwell's army. Now, Capt. John Rush's great-grandfather, Sir Thomas Russhe (my great-grandfather times nine) served both Henry VII and Henry VIII in the office of Sergeant-at-Arms, which was a major office in the Tudor period. I have a degree in history, and I think it is fascinating to know the parts one's ancestors played in it.
I don't know much about my mother's family, the Charlesworths and the Tiemans, so if you do, please contact me!!!
