About Our Family Research

In my quest to research my Giles family I have search 42 sources which some information is redundant and others
misleading.
There were many Giles families who came to the New World during the Great Migration (1600-1725), some of these families are related some are not.
In following the history of the Giles family you will find the last name to have many spellings, this is due to the pronunciation of the name and the recording of the name.
( Gil, Gile, Gyle,Gyles, Giles).
It was not until the introduction of Chrisitanity that children of
Giles were named after Saints or names mentioned in the
Bible, ( Matthew, John, Mark, Mary, ect.) by doing this they
belived the path to Heaven was much easier.
The introduction of middle names in the new world was not
until the latter part of the 1700 and early part of the 1800, this
was to kept the family records as well as the public records
stright, ( to many Matthew, John, Mark,Edwards).
If one English man researches long and hard enough, he
would find he was a decedent of William the Conquer.
I will leave that claim to the WASP of Boston, Massachusetts.
