I am doing this research on my ancestory for two reasons.
First I am doing this in memory of my grandparents. I recently lost my grandmother in April, and she was over joyous that I would show so much interest in my family history. My grandfather died when I was only eight and I really only know of him from a childs perspective, and I feel that if he were alive I would have been very proud of his life accomplishments. I would really like to know my grandfather from an adults perspective.
Second, I am trying to prove that the Gilbert's came from a variety of backgrounds, and ethnic groups. I would like to know who we were in the medieval era, and from the indian background that I have always been told about while gowing up. On the last note I have yet seen any proof of this other than my outward appearance which is a mixture of european, and indian.
So, if you have any suggestions, or information on my family history please just send me e-mail describing what you know and let me make the decision to call you, or not.
