I am current researching the surnames of Gauthier, Clough, Buzzell, Chamberlain, Hunting & Berard.
On my Mother's side - the Clough's, I descend from John Clough and his goodwife Jane/Jone of Salisbury, MA. John came over on the ship "Elizabeth" in 1635 from England. It is not yet known if he met Jane/Jone here in America, or was already married when he arrived here. Jane/Jone remains a mystery woman to us. Her last name or family relations are still unknown. I currently belong to the John Clough Genealogical Society. I am the Editor of their Quarterly bulletins. I am also a member of the CloughGenealogy-L on rootsweb. Every year we have a big Family Reunion of the Clough Society.
On my Father's side -the Gautheir's, I descend from Augustin Gauthier and his good wife Josephte Jouet-Lyonet of Varenenes, QC. Augustin was born in 1694 in Ste-Croix, QC.
It is said that there is Native American blood in this family - but if that is so then it must be by marriage. I am researching that family legend currently. Any helpful hints would be appreciated! Last year for the first time we had a cousins gathering of the immediate Gauthier cousins. We hadn't seen each other for 40 years! This year we plan on renting a house for a week together!
