  • 1st HOME in America of Elizabeth Serfozo-Chorgo (42 KB)
At around 1913--My grandmother ELIZABETH Serfozo-CHORGO-[Molnar] and her sister SUSAN lived in this home at: 927 Langtry St. (The Northside) of Pittsburgh, [aka Allegheny City] Pennsylvania. It was owned by a Dr. Miles and his family. My grandmother and her sister were sponsored by and worked for Dr. Miles till each married after 1916. • Grandma CHORGO's Home till 1977 (73 KB)
This is the former house of my late Grandmother Elizabeth CHORGO-[Molnar] and my grandfather Alex Molnar in McKeesport, Pennsylvania. I loved to visit here as a child. The (ENCLOSED PORCH ON THE LEFT)--had a couch that I would take my naps on as a toddler. It was also a cozy play area for me. In the summer the back yard was lined with roses and other flowers as well as my Grandpa Alex's vegetable/herb garden. When the weather warm, my grandma would make a tent out of sheets hanging from a clothes line. She also would fill this large oval metal "Wash Tub" with water for me to wade in. The interior of the house was rather cozy. The 1st floor and second had only 2 rooms each. The house had only one bathroom, which was located in the cellar. Because of the distance between the 2nd floor bedrooms and the basement bathroom, my grandparents would use a "Chamber Pot" outside of their 2nd floor bedroom, as a night time "bathroom".
