They were married in Walker Co.,AL and lived in Winston Co.
some years before living in Blount Co.AL. On the 1900
Blount Co. Census,Doctor Franklin stated that he was born in
AL, but that his parents were born in SC. Sarah C. Smith
stated that her parents were born in AL but that her grand-
parents were born in SC.They owned land in the Calvert (29th)
Precinct in Blount Co. in 1900. The land was mortgaged.
D.F. he used sometimes, and was called Dock. He could read
and write. Tradition handed down said he was an avid reader.
In 1900 they had five living children and four deceased.
