I have managed to trace my family tree:
on the Horsnell side back to Robert Horsnail b. abt. 1652. The tree is now quite extensive and comprehensive. There are several name variants including Horsnell, Horsenell, Horsnail, Horsnaile, Horsenale. I am keen now find any archive materials i.e. Photographs, Paintings, Birth and Death Certificates and Newspaper articles.
On the Bowtell side of the family I am less successful. I can trace it back to Samuel Bowtell b. abt. 1843 in Burnham, Essex, England. Beyond that I have a possible candidate for his father Samuel Boutell b. abt. 1804 in Little Wackring, Essex, England. I suspect that there may well be a link with Abraham Bowtle b. abt. 1571 in Thaxted, Essex, England but as of yet no definate proof. Any help would be gratefully received. Name variants for Bowtell include Bowtell, Bowtle, Boutell, Boutle, Bouttle, Bouwghtall.
As for the Gilder side of the family, I've virtually drawn a blank on the first generation. My fathers mother was called Ada Gilder and as she never married, my father inherited his mothers maiden name. That's about all we know and frankly I'm stumped.
Any help filling in these blanks would be great.
