I began the search for my Ancestors in 1994 just before a family reunion of my first cousins "Hopkins" on my Dad's side of the family. I put together a book for each of us with the information I had gathered. The following Spring I started a book for a reunion on Mom's side of the family. Those books were pretty skinny compaired to the one I have now with all of the information I have gathered in the past 14 years.
My Dad's Grandmother and my Mom's Great Grandmother, Millie and Sarah Gater, were sisters, so there are double kinships throughout my family tree. All of my aunts and uncles, are also my cousins. All of my first cousins and sibblings are also 3rd cousins once removed. My son is my 4th cousin and my granddaughter is my 4th cousin once removed. I currently keep just one big book since both families are related back through the Gator/Gaither generations.
The surnames I am researching are Beard, Beem, Buck, Bramlett, Calloway, Carter, Conroy, Duvall, Fawbush, Gaither, Gater, Geister, Goen, Goss, Hopkins, Idol, Jacob, Johnson, Kirkland, Leonard, Linnertz, Lockman, Munden, O'Dell, Plowden, Prather, Riehl, Robbins, Robey, Ruley, Sheilds, Shiel, Tattershall, Waters, Weston, and White.
