I have done many years of research and have printed our Firth Family book with all but one of William FIRTH and Mary Anne RICHARDSONs descendents accounted for here in Australia, William and Maryanne married in Sheffield on 12th May 1856 and then sailed on the Vocalist to Australia arriving Sydney Australia on the 10th October 1856. William and Maryanne had 11 children and we have over 2,000 descendants here in Australia. William was the son of George FIRTH and Sophia SMITH who married on the 12th February 1824 at Earl Shilton, Leichestershire, England. William had a brother George Born 28 October 1826 in Darrington, Yorkshire. George immigrated to Illonios, United States of America in 1856, we have most of their details also. Williams other brother Thomas who was born 3rd October 1830 also in Darrington, we believe Thomas lived in Womersley Yorkshire and married a Maria and they had several children, we also believe both of them died in Womersley Yorkshire, we have no other details on Thomas or his family. Williams mother Sophia died on 1st May 1831 at Darrington, Yorkshire. George then married Bethia BEAUMONT on the 26th November 1833 at Warmfield,Wakefield, Yorkshire and they had 5 more children, Joseph b.28th August 1834 in Darrington, John b.3rd January1836 at Darrington, Henry b.19th August 1838 at Hoyland Nether, Charles b. 12th December 1839 at High Hoyland, Mary Jane b. 11th November 1841 at High Hoyland. We do not have many details on this family except some information sent to us in letters from Charles daughter Florrie FIRTH who was born about 1878 in Hoyland Nether and she married a Mr WESTWOOD and had a son about 1904. Florrie was a Schoolteacher. Bethia (Beaumont) FIRTH died in Sheffield in 1846 and George married again to a Maria FARR-BARTON her maiden name was FARR and she had 2 children to a marriage to Mr BARTON, Maria then had a son John BARTON born 1846 in Hoyland Nether, then a daughter Anna Maria born 18th July 1848 at Hoyland Nether, then a son Mark born 31 March 1851 at Hoyland Nether, we have no details on any of these children. I would be very grateful if anyone has any information regarding any of these FIRTH families and it would be wonderful to hear form anyone who is interested in further research of their Ancestors. George FIRTH was a Green Grocer and Provisions Dealer in Hoyland Yorkshire when he died on 21st October 1862 he was aged 70 years.
