I am one of the many Suddarth descendants, who did not branch out from Virginia. My grandfather Andrew Jackson Suddarth was born in the old Suddarth house, which still stands and is still occupied. It is called the Arrows and was stuccoed over and had a new kitchen added. I was lucky enough to be allowed inside, when my husband and I, as well as my parents went up to the mountains to locate and photograph the old house. When we arrived, a very pleasant lady came out of the house. I apologized for trespassing and asked if I might take a few photos of the outside and the yard and I explained that this was our ancestral home. Delighted, by the news, she responded by inviting us to take a tour of the inside, taking us through the various rooms and up the lovely old staircase as well as into the basement. Unfortunately, the light was burned out in the basement, but I aimed my camara in several different directions and took shots in the dark. Much to my surprise we also found an old millstone in the outside flower garden. When my photos were developed, the pictures of the basement were crystal clear showing very old early 1700's brick, in what used to be the old cook kitchen.
