James Gilbert is my 6x great grandfather. I have had my geneology professionaly done plus my family and great grandfather John Tipton Gilbert passed on additional information. Im trying to find our more about James and his wife Sarah (Sally) Marshall and Joseph Gilbert who married Nancy ? Cheek?.
Ralph Ottie Gilbert b. 1934 in Claiborne County, TN is the son of Grover Gilbert b. Jan. 13, 1905 in Rose Hill, VA. Grover was the son of John Tipton Gilbert b. 1879 in TN possibly Hancock County d. Jan. 23, 1975 Claiborne County, TN. John Tipton was the son of Thomas Calvin Gilbert b. 1853/4 possibly Hancock County. Thomas Calvin was the son of John b. Nov. 26, 1812 in Lee County, TN and was a Baptist preacher. John was the son of James b. 1787 and was founder of Mulberry Gap Church in Hancock and Claiborne Counties. James d. 1858 and was burried in the church yard there. He married Sarah (Sally) Marshall. I have information on most all their spouses and children. After James it gets a little confusing but James fathers name is Joseph Gilbert (my 7x great grandfather) who married a Nancy last name possibly Cheek. Any information is welcome and I will try to help anyone I can with what I have.
