I have been compiling this tree since 1983 when my sister was diagnosed with familial ALS. The initial push was to discover where the defective gene originated. Since that time, the bug bit and I have been digging deeper into the family history. With a combination of oral history (mostly from my mother, who died in 1999) and internet search engines, I have been able to complete my father's line back to Joseph Gilson in Groton, MA. and My mother's line back to John Greene (surgeon) in Warwick, RI. I am currently working on verifying as much of the information as possible.

Names on the maternal side include Labatt, Greene, Scott, Castle, Wilkins, Cleveland, Goodspeed, Thompson, Cooke, Rice, Carr, Barton, Tattershall and others.
