William D Glascock was the original settler of Oak Hill, Texas. In Oak Hill there is a Glascock Cemetery that was declared historical and sits on the original land that was in the family about 100 years. Our Glas(s)cocks are descended from Thomas Glascocke of Indian Banks, Virginia. Our line migrated to Pittslyvania County, Virginia then Madison County, Alabama before migrating to Texas in the 1830's.Also in our line include Washington Anderson of Round Rock who was a founding father of Williamson County and fought in the Battle of San Jacinto. He and William D Glascock were 1st cousins.Mt.Barker in Austin is named after William D's mother Sarah Glascock Barker.
Other Glas(s)cocks descended from Indian Banks that came to Texas that I am not directly descended from but were cousins include: George Washington Glasscock who Georgetown and Glasscock County in Texas are named for,George John Glascock of Webberville,Tx and Charles "Gus" Glasscock of Chorpus who was an oil millionaire and his brothers had a Glasscock Circus in the early 1900's
Our family history states that two Glascock brothers were banished from Scotland for religious beliefs and are of Scottish-Irish descent.
