Dickens, Dell L. Jr. > WAUNAKEE - Dell L. Dickens Jr., age 85, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 11, 2003, at his home. He was born on May 6, 1918, in Madison, the fourth child of nine children born to Dell Sr. and Hanna (Lund) Dickens. Dell graduated from East High School. He served his country in the United States Air Force during World War II, from 1942-1946. Dell married Vivian Gilbert in Madison on May 1, 1953. Dell worked for Coca Cola, was a salesman for H. F. Kessenich Co. for 35 years, developed Rambling Acres and Rustic Acres subdivisions in Madison, and founded Dickens Travel in Madison. His true passion was raising and showing Arabian Horses. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, East Side Businessmen's Association, and a life member of the Madison Elks., Dell will be deeply missed by his family and friends including his wife of 50 years, Vivian Dickens of Waunakee; his son, Dell (Kay) Dickens III; step daughters, Nancee (Gene) Cnare and Janet (Ray) Pedersen;, 11 grandchildren; and several great- and great-great-grandchildren. He is further survived by two brothers; a sister; and two sisters-in-law. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and two sisters. Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2003, at 11 a.m. at LAKEVIEW MORAVIAN CHURCH, 3565 Tulane Ave. Inurnment will be in Cottage Grove Cemetery., Friends may call from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
