I have found that both sides of Glenn family have Scottish and Irish backgrounds. I started with what my husband's cousin had researched and from there I have gathered quite a lot from other sources. Our Glenns are related to John Glenn the astronaut's lineage.
This year we are having a Glenn Family reunion to celebrate the marriage of our Glenns grandparents 100th Anniversary.They were:
Karl Rew Glenn b Feb 23 1884-d Dec 19 1951, married Dec 31 1905 to Lucia Adelia Brainard b Aug 29 1887-d Jun 20 1959.
There is a gold signet ring that was passed down from g-grandfather, Austin Evans Glenn to his grandson, Alton Ensign Glenn and then was passed to Alton's youngest son, Alton Earl Glenn. Alton Earl's daughter now has the ring and I have taken pictures of it to add to the family history. The ring is inscribed on the inside with the date that Austin Evans Glenn received it; Oct 19 1874. We do not know how he received it; if it was a gift or if he himself purchased it. You can still see the monogram on AEG, but it is not as easy to see due to wear.
