I am looking for my grandmother, Juanita Anderson- Davis. I have been told three different stories during my search. Maybe someone can help.
Story One:
I was told that in 1937 a traveling show came through Charleston WV. Juanita Anderson (my granny) had a fling with one of the men traveling with the show. The show left and she was pregnant. (The following is true) On May 25, 1938 she gave birth to my mother at the Mission Hospital in Charleston. Juanita gave my mother up for adoption in July 22, 1938 to the W.V. Davis Shelter in Charleston. Thelma and Harold Park adopted her two days later July 24. That's all I know. I would like to find her. I am not even sure if her name is Juanita Anderson.
Story Two:
My Grandmother(Juanita) was the daughter of a wealthy family in Charleston. She went to the same church as Thelma and Harold Park. My Grandmother got pregnant and because the Parks had just lost a son to still birth(true) the Pastor of the church asked if they would adopt her. They did adopt her through the WV childrens shelter. I have the adoption papers.
Ok Story Three:
Juantia Anderson was born in Richmond Va. Her mother died when she was 3 and her father, George Anderson, died when she was nine. She then went to live with her Aunt Alma Anderson on Hanover st. in Richmond. In 1936-7 Juanita began working at the Dupont Plant where she met a John R. Davis. They married. She got pregnant, he left, and she went back Charleston WV to have the baby. She lived with an Arthur Hunt family in Charleston while she was pregnant. Had the baby at the Mission Hospital May 25, 1938 and gave her up on July 22 to the Davis Shelter in Charleston.
So far I have not been able to find any of these names in the census. ***I only found an Arthur Hunt in the 1938 phone book. I have also found his daughter,Irene. She had confirmed that they lived at 1010 Washington st. Unfortunately she does not remember Juanita. She said Arthur Hunt took in alot of people.
The Mission Hospital does not have any records of births anymore. Does anyone have any ideas for me? I have the adoption papers, I have been to the Davis shelter, I have been to the Dupont plant..... Someone had to have known Juanita??
