Notes for Salome Kobel: BIOGRAPHY: Salome (Kobel) Zartman b. 9/15/1786 d. 4/8/1862
BIOGRAPHY: A granddaughter, Rose Zartman, wrote the following about Salome Zartman: "Grandmother was a fine character. She demanded obedience from her grandchildren, whichwas right. She was courageous. Grandfather got homesick and wanted to go back to Pennsylvania, but she said, "You can go if you want to, but I am going to stay." I think she was an artist. She had a sampler which we all admired. She could knit mittens with a double, and different colored yarns for the grandsons. She knew the value of herbs, of which she had all sorts in her garden and she succeeded better along that line than many of our modern doctors."
