 Includes NotesNotes for John Kinard:
Carl Nichols writes the following in "Family of John Kinard, Sr" on the Dutch Fork web site (dutchforkchapter.org/html/):

"During the Eighteenth century, several Kinard families settled in the the Newberry County part of the Dutch Fork of South Carolina. The earliest of these families arrived in S.C. late in 1744. This Kinard family was among a group of Protestant "Palatines" that arrived on Capt. Brown's ship, the St. Andrew (Council Journal, Meeting of 29 January 1745). Mathias, Margaret, John, and Martin Kinard later claimed to have arrived on this ship in their petitions for bounty land in S.C.

"John Kinard petitioned on 26 Jan 1749 (1750 in modern calendar) for bounty, for himself and his youngest brother, Martin Kinard. The petition states that they had arrived in SC several years before and their parents had died in the service of Mr. Henry Middleton. They both were granted 50 acre tracts on Crims Cr. In 1762, John Kinard (as John Kennet) bought the 200 acre grant of John Rheynard on Cannons Cr. (Memorials 6:21). This tract is near the location of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Pomaria, SC.

"John Kinard, Sr. died prior to 1790. According to some sources his wife was Mary Lagrone.
There is suggestive evidence that he may have married Mary Black. John Kynot had a 100 acre survey of 1772 on headwaters of Risters Cr. branch of Wateree Cr. between Pomaria and Chapin, SC. An adjacent survey of 100 acres in 1773 was that of Mary Black. Later surveys show both lands as being owned by John Kinard."
