I have tried to derermine my mother's side of the family which would be my maternal grandfather who was known as Jim Dillard but I have come to believe as another branch of the family does that it is Dillow. The Dillow I believe is an Irish name and I can trace it in this area which is around around Bland county, Virginia. I think my grandfathers family on this side of the ocean begins with an Abraham Dillow and his son was named Abraham. He lived on big Walker Mountain near Tazewell, where I use to live and near Bland county in Virginia. He had a son Named James Dillow which grew up in the general area, I think and then there was my great grandfather, William Patton Dillow. My great grandfather, whom I have just named was in the War between the states, and was emprisoned. My grandfather was reared by a Bill Thompson in Thompson in Thompson Valley near Tazewell, Virginia. I have enough proof of my great grandfather, William Patton Dillow, but I am unsure beyond that. James Dillow grew up near Tazewell and as I said of his father, Abraham, he lived on Big Walker Mountain.
