William Doty (son of Reuben Doty and Marie Eurasie Borel) was born 1820, and died date unknown. He married Marie Irma Borel on 26 Feb 1845.

William DOTY, the first child of Reuben DOTY and Marie Eurasie SOREL, was born about 1820 in Louisiana.

William was married to Marie Irma SOREL OB50) on 26 July 1845, Franklin Courthouse, LA. Marie Irma SOREL, daughter of Eugene SOREL (#320) and Hortense BOURGEOIS (#B29), was born on 26 June 1828, St. Martin Ch., St. Martin Ph., LA.

William DOTY and his wife, Marie Irma SOREL, were first cousins. William's mother, Marie Eurasie SOREL (#B22), and Marie Irma Is father, Eugene SOREL OB20), were sister and brother. See Appendix A for more information on the SOREL family.

William DOTY served in the Civil War as a private with Company I, 3rd (Harrison's) Louisiana Cavalry. He is listed on a Roll of Prisoners of War, who were paroled at New Iberia, Louisiana on 13 June 1865. His residence was listed as St. Mary Ph., LA. William's two brothers, Daniel and Robert DOTY, and his brother-in-law John C. STANSBURY, served with him in Company I. (Records of Louisiana Confederate Soldiers)

in the 1850 census, William, Marie Irma, and Marie Irma's mother lived together in St. Mary Ph. They could have been living on the tract of land William bought from his father's estate in 1845.

In the 1860 census, William DOTY, his wife, and two sons lived in St. Mary Ph. William's real estate was valued at $1,500, and his personal property at $1,000.

In the 1870 census, William, Marie Irma, and their two sons lived in Ward 1, New Iberia, Iberia Ph. William's real estate was valued at $1,500, and his personal property at $500. William's occupation was listed as a farmer.

In the 1880 census, William, Marie Irma and their son Abner lived in Jeanerette, Iberia Ph., LA. William's occupation was listed as a grocery clerk.

William DOTY died between 1880 and 1894. Marie Irma SOREL DOTY died at age 66 years on 18 October 1894, Lydia Ch., Iberia Ph., LA.

Louisiana Cavalry.
The 3d (Harrison's) Regiment Louisiana Cavalry was first organized as a battalion about January, 1863, and was recognized as the 15 Battalion Louisiana Cavalry by the A.& I.G.O. in May, 1863.

It was increased to a regiment in July or August, 1863, and was known in the Trans-Mississippi Department as the 3 Regiment Louisiana Cavalry. It appears to have been finally paroled as the 3 and as Harrison's Regiment Louisiana Cavalry, at various places in West

Louisiana.
