And in 1860, they were enumerated on the same page as other members of Mary Jane's family, her mo ther and some of her married brothers. In 1860, Samuel's occupation was listed as a farmer, the value of his real estate at $2,500 and his personal property at $4,000.
In the 1870 census, Samuel, Mary Jane and their children lived in Ward 1, Franklin, St. Mary Ph.; and in 1880 they lived in Ward 2, St. Mary Ph. Samuel's occupation was listed as a carpenter in 1870, and a farmer in 1880. The 1870 census listed the value of Samuel's real estate at $1,000 and his personal property at $500.
In the 1900 and 1910 census, Mary Jane lived with her son Samuel EDGERLY and his family in Ward 2, St. Mary Ph. In 1900 and 1910, Mary Jane is listed as the mother of 12 children with 5 living. Only 10 of these children have been accounted for, the others probably died at birth or at a very young age.
